As I mentioned in my last blog update, we gave the wheelchair donated by OneWorldInstitute to Hymie, who is a 13 year old polio victim. Hymie has one younger brother and three younger sisters who attend school but Hymie has never attended school since Kindergarden. Having just learned this, I spoke to a Filipiino pastor friend of mine who I sometimes work with and asked him to speak with them to see if they could arrange for Hymie to get to school now that he has a wheelchair and he did. Hymie will be attending the first grade starting in June and he is very excited about this. I feared that he would be have feelings other than elation by the thoughts of being 13 years old and in the first grade but he does not. He is outwardly excited at the prospects which made me tearfully happy that you and I could help this child in such a way. We will sponsor the child ($35 a year) for supplies and uniforms. Thank you to all the supporters for helping make this possible. We have literally changed a poor, handicapped child's life. God bless.
